Locations

These centrally-located spots offer us a wide range of setting options. Choose the one that best fits the mood and feel you’re looking for in your photos, and see below the dates and times available at each location.

St. Anthony Main area- with cobblestone streets, dozens of old brick buildings, and views of downtown Minneapolis across the Mississippi River, this is the perfect area to get that ‘urban’ feel in your photographs. We can take advantage of everything from Nicollet Island to the Stone Arch Bridge, with an abundance of rich urban textures and landmark settings.

Como Park- if you’re looking for more of a ‘nature’ feel, look no further than Como Park. Nestled in the middle of St Paul, Como Park offers a wide variety of natural settings including a picturesque lake, rolling tree-filled hills, and the famous McNeely Conservatory and Japanese Garden (please note that taking photos inside the Conservatory may be subject to a $25 fee).

Walker Sculpture Garden- for a location that blends art, nature, and city, try the Sculpture Garden at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. Its tree-lined walkways, unique sculptures, and grassy fields offer several distinctive settings. And Loring Park, with its large oaks, tall grass, and pond, is just a short walk over the pedestrian bridge away.

Additional Prints and Digital Images

Included in your LivingSocial deal is one, fully processed and re-touched 11 x 14 print. My guess is that once you view your gallery of photos, just one print won’t be enough. If that’s the case, here is a list of the various print sizes and prices.

FAQs

What is the best way to contact you?

Email- davidkeyesphotography@gmail.com. Please include any questions or concerns you might have, along with the best phone number to reach you, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

How do I book my appointment?

To book your appointment, please email me at: davidkeyesphotography@gmail.com. In general, the dates and times shown above should be current. Be sure to include your LS voucher number in your email.

What should we wear?

First and foremost, you and your family should wear whatever you will be most comfortable in. Simple, casual clothing tends to work well because it lets you, not clothing, be the star of the photo. Try to avoid logos, large writing and busy patterns. However, bold colors, accessories (hats, scarves, etc.), layers, and ponytails can work great, too, if they help to express the subject’s personality. I would also try to avoid wearing sneakers and, if you’re up for it, I LOVE the look of bare feet!

For group photos, siblings and families should try to wear coordinating clothing, but not necessarily matching. If you have any questions on wardrobe, we can go over them on our pre-session phone call.

What else should we bring?

If you have a special idea, perhaps a theme for the photographs, I’ll be happy to accommodate. Just bring any props that you want to include. For a child’s photo session please bring any toys, stuffed animals, snacks, or drinks that will help make your child comfortable and happy.

How many people can we have in our photo shoot? What if we would like to add another person? Can we bring pets?

Your session deal is good for up to 4 people. If you’d like to include others, that’s not a problem; it’s just $25 for each additional person. And, pets are welcome as long as you have control over them. Just keep in mind that we’ll only have 45 minutes to shoot.

What happens if it rains or I need to re-schedule?

Life happens. I totally get it. If you need to reschedule your session, I just ask that you do it as far in advance as possible so others may take advantage of the opening. After your first reschedule, there will be a $50 fee for each rescheduled appointment.

And, the weather doesn’t always cooperate. If it’s anything more than a very light drizzle, I will contact you as soon as possible to reschedule your session.

What if we are late for our photo shoot?

I have two young kids. I know it can take longer than expected to get out the door! My best advice is to plan on arriving a few minutes early to the session. I have some padding built into the times, but I anticipate full days so I can’t guarantee we’ll be able to go past our scheduled time.

If you have not arrived or contacted me within 15 minutes of our scheduled start time, I reserve the right to continue to my next client and your Living Social voucher will be forfeited.

We plan on using our deal for our engagement session. Can we add more time?

First off, congrats! And, I would love for you to add more time! The LivingSocial deal will cover your first 45 minutes of shooting; each additional hour costs $125. Be sure to mention your interest in adding more time in your initial email so I can adjust my availability accordingly.

What is the time-line and turn-around for getting the gallery and prints?

Within two weeks of our session, I will select the 15 best images, publish them in a private, password-protected gallery here on my site, and email you a link and password. The gallery will be live for two weeks. During that time, you should share the gallery with your family and friends, while keeping in mind that the photos have yet to receive my full detailed processing and retouching.

Before the gallery expires, you will place your order of prints and digital images via the shopping cart in your gallery. All prints and digital images must be ordered at the same time, including the 11×14 print from the deal.

Once your order is placed, I will fully process and retouch your ordered images and send them off to my professional lab for printing. Depending on the size of your order, it may take up to 3 weeks to receive them at your home.

What happens if I haven’t placed my order by the time my gallery expires?

There is a $35 fee to re-instate an expired gallery for an additional 2 weeks.

How do you process the photos? Can they be ordered in either color or b&w?

My processing techniques are an integral part of my creative workflow and vision for the final pieces. And, I approach each photo as an independent work of art. It’s hard to put into words but, essentially, I let the photo tell me how it should be processed. That may mean it will have bold, striking colors, or perhaps a softer feel, or it may even end up with the timeless quality of black and white.

However, if you wish to have a photo specifically in black and white or color to accomodate your needs, in most cases I’ll be happy to do so.

Why are your standard print rates less expensive than those for the LivingSocial deal?

My portrait packages are designed to cover the full spectrum of my services- from the session, to full, detailed processing, to the delivery of 25-30 digital images. Because the cost of processing the images is built into the package price, I am able to offer prints for those packages at very reasonable rates.

The LivingSocial deal only covers the cost of processing a single image for the included 11×14 print. So, the cost of processing has been built into the price of any additional images or prints you order.

What methods of payment do you accept?
